The
Ordnance Survey Outdoors Show at the NEC in Birmingham in March proved a very popular event and we were delighted to win third prize in the awards for 'Best Stand Shell Scheme Category'. Thank you to all our valued customers who visited us during the 3 day event. We hope many of you had the opportunity to see our guest speakers in the theatre.
Many of you at the show will have received the free CD of downloadable walks - we hope you have been able to get outdoors and enjoy some of them.
Summer is well underway, albeit a rather wet one - maybe a good time to do some research into future walks with the help of the latest editions of
Pathfinder and
Short Walk guides. This season sees several new editions of both types of wallking guide, with all the walks checked and updated by our dedicated team of walkers, and some new walks included.
Coming soon is a brand new title in the
Pathfinder series - 'Map Reading Skills - an introduction to map reading and basic navigation', written by Terry Marsh who has over ten years' experience in teaching map reading and basic navigation skills. Terry is currently the Secretary of the Outdoor Writers and Photographers Guild. This title is perfect for walkers who want to learn basic map reading and navigation skills, and get the best use from their compass.
This new guide will be a companion title to our very popular 'GPS for Walkers - an introduction to GPS and digital maps' and is the perfect solution to help anyone choose and learn how to use a GPS system.
Let's hope the weather improves so that we can all enjoy some sunny walking this season.
